Job Description

This pre-apprenticeship programme will enable you to gain an insight into the different trades that are part of the building services engineering sector. It is designed to give you the confidence and experience that employers are looking for and to help you make an informed choice about which apprenticeship programme is best for you.

You will gain from nine to 16 week’s valuable work experience with an employer and learn essential employability skills to support you with your apprenticeship application.

Traineeship programm are currently available at our Birmingham, Orpington training centres and at partner colleges in the Cumbrian region.

What is a JTL Traineeship?

A JTL traineeship is based in the plumbing and electrical sector, which can help support you gain an insight into the skills and qualities needed to gain an apprenticeship in the building services engineering sector.

Who is eligible for the course?
Traineeships are designed for 16 to 18year olds who have not achieved a Level 3 qualification and who are willing to commit to four weeks work experience with a local employer on a building site.

Due to the nature of the sector, work experience starts at 8am and travel may be required.

Are travel expenses reimbursed?
JTL pays an attendance bursary of up to £25 per week which can be put towards any travel expenses you may incur.

How does the course benefit you?
You will gain valuable employability skills and knowledge into the plumbing and electrical sector.

You will gain an employer reference on completion of the course and either an exit interview or a potential employment interview.

If eligible you will be put forward for any live vacancies via JTL.

What is the progression route after completion?
You can progress onto an apprenticeship, full time work or a full-time college course.
