Research Associate

Job Description

Working with the Head of Department you will contribute to two specific projects. First, Negotiating Childhood around the Pacific-Rim, funded by the Marsden Fund - Royal Society Te Aparangi in New Zealand, is investigating the environmental and socio-economic changes in urban childhoods over three generations across some Pacific Rim countries. In the project’s final year you will support the Head with further analysis of the Chinese data, identifying key literature, writing academic papers and policy documents, preparing and giving presentations and other activities as required. The second project involves working with Timberplay, a long standing collaborator, to explore reasons children and young people go to Sheffield city centre and what they do when they are there, building on earlier work by the Head. Sheffield City Council will also be a collaborator for this project because of their involvement with the Pounds Park playground and the ongoing regeneration of the city centre. There is also a possibility that a second northern city, with a recently developed playground in the city centre, may become involved with this project.

Contributions to other research projects and tasks as required in inline with the post grade.
