Research Assistant – COSI Trial

Job Description

The Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families supports distressed children and their families through innovative therapeutic practice and research, training and promoting awareness of mental health issues. In April 2019, the Centre opened its new Centre of Excellence located in King’s Cross.

The Centre values diversity and aims to have a workforce that reflects this. We encourage applications from all sections of the community.

The Centre has recently been awarded funding by the National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) Health Technology Assessment (HTA) funding stream to conduct a large, multi-site randomised controlled trial (RCT) examining whether the Circle of Security-Parenting™ (COS-P) programme is effective in improving maternal psychopathology and the parent-infant relationship. The trial is called the COSI (Circle of Security Intervention) trial and has been funded for 4-years starting on 1st March 2021 across nine NHS specialist community perinatal mental health services in England.

The COSI trial will sit in a newly established Early Intervention Research Group within the Early Years Programme and will be co-led by Dr Camilla Rosan and Professor Peter Fonagy as joint Principal Investigators.

The post-holder will make up part of the COSI research team where they will contribute to a range of research activities across the nine sites within the trial. This will support close collaboration across sites to support the collection, management and analysis of quantitative and qualitative data related to trial. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, organised, self-motivated and have a good understanding of research methods. They will be committed to reflexive action around eliminating discriminative practice.

Candidates who would like to complete a PhD alongside the role are welcomed.

The post-holder will be home-based during the on-going COVID-19 pandemic; thereafter at the Anna Freud Centre, 4-8 Rodney Street, London N1 9JH. There will be requirement for regular travel to all the trial recruitment sites, which are spread across England.
