The School of Architecture, Technology and Design is looking to appoint an experienced, design focussed Lecturer/Senior Lecturer to teach design studio and skills to Level 4 of our BA(Hons) Architecture course. Architecture courses at Brighton are well established with a history of excellence in industry-focussed design education and award-winning graduates.
In addition to the teaching and pastoral care elements of a lecturing post, you will actively engage in course administration, student recruitment and additional duties as required for the successful running of the courses. As the successful candidate, you should have:
- appropriate professional and teaching experience in architecture, preferably supported by professional body membership
- knowledge that supports the delivery of a curriculum that ranges across the cultural, socio-economic, and physical aspects of Architecture
- an awareness of contemporary architectural practice is essential, including emerging modes of practice and interdisciplinary collaboration
- a strong understanding of current architectural education, the accreditation processes of Royal Institute of British Architects/Architects Registration Board (RIBA/ARB) as well as recent proposed changes
Teaching experience in higher education is desirable. Strong design and communications skills are essential, as is a comprehensive knowledge of the subject area. We are looking for candidates who can be creative in their approach to working with students and have a broad enough range of experience to support all elements of design practice through their teaching.
This is a 0.8FTE 12-month fixed term post. We welcome applications from candidates seeking a job share or less hours to remain in practice.
