Job Description

Maintain communication with victims and witnesses throughout the life of the case, by their preferred means of contact, to improve their confidence and satisfaction level.

Determine the availability of police and civilian witnesses so that trials can be set at appropriate times.

Take appropriate action to ensure that witnesses are warned / cancelled for court in a timely fashion providing full justifications for actions as and when required, maintaining compliance with Force and Government procedures.

Conduct Need Assessments of victims and witnesses, to identify needs and manage accordingly providing a tailored response to ensure their attendance at Court and therefore reduce the number of ineffective trials.

Liaise with lawyers and front line Police Officers regarding victim and witness issues and difficulties to ensure effective case progression.

Liaise with external groups and agencies as highlighted in the Contact Directory, to ensure that witness needs are met.

Finalise cases, including the written notification of results to victims and witnesses.

Collate feedback from victims and witnesses about their Criminal Justice experience and share with the relevant partners to improve future service.

Provide resilience to the Criminal Justice Support Administration Officer role when necessary.

Guide and support young victims and witnesses through the Court process in conjunction with Victim Support.

Qualifications

  • QCF Level 2 qualification or equivalent

Some general clerical experience including a knowledge of IT systems and software will be an indicator of a candidate’s range of acquired skills.
