Job Description

It is an exciting time for HM Land Registry as we continue on a major transformation programme. HMLR’s ambition is to become the world’s leading land registry for speed, simplicity and an open approach to data.

We are now recruiting for Testers and Test Automation Engineers (Test Analysts).

As part of the Test team you will be developing quality digital services which enable over £1 trillion worth of lending to be secured against property across England and Wales. You will work with the team of like-minded professionals to ensure that testing is carried out and that quality issues are sufficiently considered during the development process. You will use and learn a wide range of technologies including Jenkins, Ruby, Cucumber and BDD (Behaviour Driven Development framework).

You can work from home the majority of the time if you prefer, or you can work from one of our 14 offices across England and Wales. You will need to be based within a commutable distance from one of them, which will be assigned contractually as your ‘home’ office.

National salary for Tester is £27,130 (Croydon £30,604). An IT Allowance of up to £4,609 is also payable on meeting qualifying criteria. National salary for Test Automation Engineer is £33,839 (£37,290 Croydon) Plus an IT allowance (non-pensionable) of £4,609 is also payable from day one.

Please be advised that HM Land Registry does not hold a UK Visa & Immigration (UKVI) Skilled Worker License sponsor and are unable to sponsor any individuals for Skilled Worker Sponsorship.

Where an individual taking up the responsibility will be based in Swansea Office, the ability to speak Welsh is desirable.

Technical skills

We’ll assess you against these technical skills during the selection process:

  • Tester: Holds relevant IT Degree (or equivalent); and / or industry experience in testing and a basic understanding of a coding language.
  • Test Automation Engineer: Ability to create automation test frameworks and write automation tests using a coding language.
