Job Description

Due to continued success and increasing student numbers, we are expanding our talented team, whose role is to provide student-centred information, advice, guidance and support, mostly by phone and email, so that we can continue to provide an exceptional and responsive service. The role

Working at The Open University in Scotland involves helping a wide range of people achieve their potential. You will be a motivated, adaptable team player who is keen to help people join and progress through the university. Working within the Student Recruitment and Support Team, you will be involved in managing a team of staff to deliver a range of student facing services to meet the needs of students and prospective students to enable them to make study choices leading to successful study progression, qualification completion and customer satisfaction.

You will need to be committed to providing a first-class customer service, be able to work accurately and to deal with a wide range of complex information in a variety of formats. You will be comfortable with new technology, be resilient under pressure, have excellent telephone and written communication skills and experience of managing staff.

Skills and experience

  • Able to communicate effectively, with empathy, by phone and in writing
  • Experience of leading and managing a team within a service delivery environment
  • Commitment to providing a first-class service to students
  • Experience of working co-operatively with others to achieve organisational goals and service level targets
  • Able to receive and process information quickly and accurately under time pressure
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to influence, establish credibility and assert authority
