Job Description

The Office for Students (OfS) was established by the Higher Education and Research Act in 2017 and became fully operational in April 2018. OfS`s primary aim is to ensure that English higher education is delivering positive outcomes for students – past, present, and future. The Resources & Finance Directorate provides critical services to the OfS to enable the organisation to deliver its strategy. The Directorate ensures that the OfS complies with statutory and other public sector requirements, identifies and manages risks and opportunities and co-ordinates efforts across the organisation to be efficient and effective.

The aim of the role `Team Administrator` is to provide support across the organisation, primarily in a specific Directorate, and work flexibly across the organisation in line with business needs. Key responsibilities include: managing enquiries (internal and external) to ensure information reaches the right people to respond; providing administrative support to other assignments as required; contributing to the sustainable development of the OfS through consistent application of relevant processes. The role requires engagement with stakeholders to ensure that the relevant team receives appropriate administrative support

Initial assignments: When appointed to this post, the post holder will be given an initial activity assignment and will work in one or more home team within a directorate. This is where they will undertake all or most of their work in the first instance. However, the organisation is committed to working flexibly and moving people to work in different teams and on different assignments, in order to: develop an individual`s skills and experience, improve communications across teams, and to ensure that as the OfS`s priorities change, resources are allocated appropriately. Movement to different assignments will take account of an individual`s competencies, knowledge and preferences; the needs of the organisation, and the need for some team stability.

You will be able to demonstrate previous office experience including confident use of standard software and business processes; experience managing office records; customer service focus (internal and external); budget administration; and planning and time management skills. The key person attributes to fulfil this role are: strong written and verbal communications skills; discretion; attention to detail and organisational skills; flexibility and team-working; and knowledge of relevant software and word-processing programmes.
