Job Description

This role will be committed to quality, promoting quality software engineering techniques within the team such as code review, design review, usability of code, refactoring, automated testing and use of standards.

Roles Responsibilities include (but not limited to):

  • Building digital services and software solutions to serve a variety of user needs.
  • Software development using Agile methodologies.
  • Building and implementing APIs for internal and external use.
  • Developing solutions that put the user and user experience first.
  • Unit testing of developed code.
  • Creating a culture of collaboration between development teams and business partners.

About You

We are very keen to hear from individuals with proven experience delivering successful development outcomes in comparable digital transactional services using agile methodologies. You will hold experience in front-end and/or back-end development combined with a detailed knowledge of at least one programming knowledge, preferably Java, TypeScript or Javascript. In addition, we would love to hear from candidates who are experienced in coaching and mentoring developers to work in an Agile delivery framework, meeting quality and delivery measures, planning and coordinating with the agile team structure.

You are someone who loves to be given full autonomy in their role but also relishes working collaboratively in a close-knit team environment, being a key team-player. How to Apply

To apply for this role, you will need to provide detailed evidence of your experience of the following sift criteria within your CV and Personal Statement:

  • Proven experience of delivering successful development outcomes in comparable digital transactional services using agile methodologies
  • Experience in front-end and/or back-end development, with detailed knowledge of at least one programming language preferably Java, TypeScript or Javascript,
  • Experience of coaching and mentoring individual developers to work within an Agile delivery framework and meet quality and delivery measures, planning and co-ordinating work within the Agile team structure
  • Ability to quickly research and learn new programming tools and techniques, and share knowledge with peers and juniors
  • understanding of software design principles
  • A systematic approach to solving technical problems
  • Ability to negotiate with and influence senior stakeholders effectively, articulating complex technical matters to non-technical stakeholders
  • Ability to diagnose and debug production issues
  • Experience of using testing to validate solutions
  • Basic understanding of web security
  • Knowledge of technologies used for web applications, e.g. databases, backups, CDNs and search, and of Unix-like operating systems, e.g. Linux and/or Mac OS

  • a full day of activities including interactive, written and timed exercises
