This is an exciting opportunity to join the Financial Accounting Team of the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) as a Senior Finance Control Manager. This specialist team sits at the heart of the finance department.
The successful candidate will enable effective business relationships between DVSA and its stakeholders, delivering effective and efficient service achieved by proficient use of the SAP enterprise resource planning (ERP) system
The main duties and responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:
- Support to DVSA’s business managers in financial control processes and banking best practices
- Regular review of ledger controls and balance sheet accounts.
- support corporate projects as and when necessary, including adoption and transition to shared services.
- Support processes for customer balances such as pre-funded accounts including dispute resolution
- Review and report on key performance indicators for the accounts receivable, accounts payable or banking processes and take action where necessary
- Support front end system users in matters relating to financial transactions
- Review open items to support investigations and discrepancies.
- Manage, report on and analyse performance of Accounts Receivables, Accounts Payables or Banking processes
- opportunities in the use of P2P tools, to ensure Good Receipting and Purchase Order Management, increased compliance and reduction of off contract spend
- Participate in the development in key financial and performance reports

You will bring with excellent knowledge and experience of financial control and working with ERP systems. You will have great communication and influencing skills and able to deliver complex finance messages to a broad range of stakeholders. You recognise the benefits of change and encourage a culture of continuous improvement, using your initiative to identify better ways of working.
You are proactive with a strong record of delivery. You have fantastic planning and organisational skills, often coordinating conflicting priorities delivering to deadlines. You will have experience of leading financial activities in a large and complex organisation. You will be a self-starter with the confidence and enthusiasm to make a real impact within our team driving those around you to achieve the same shared objectives.
You champion success by gaining quick rapport with others as you build trust and effective working relationships with many stakeholders. You are forward-thinking with the ability to see the complete picture and how your decisions impact this.
You will be an advanced user of Microsoft Excel with familiarity with large data sets, displaying and reporting this in engaging forms.

You may be required to travel to various DVSA and other locations from time to time, with occasional overnight stays.
Fully qualified accountants are eligible for an additional Recruitment and Retention Allowance of £3,000 per year.
