Research Support Officer

Job Description

We are seeking to appoint two professional and proactive administrators who are able to provide high quality, customer focussed research support (primarily pre-award) to the Research Support teams within the Faculty of Engineering and Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health.

You will be an integral member of a Faculty research support team, based in a hub working across a group of departments and will report to one of the Research Hub Managers. This is a key role whereby you will work with a team of colleagues to deliver high quality research administration to academics, researchers and professional services colleagues.

Your core responsibilities will be split into four areas; research grant support, research governance administration, updating and maintaining research information systems and providing administration to faculty or department research committees and groups.

You will ideally have previous experience of working in a busy, customer focused environment, you will have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively as part of a wider support team and experience of working to tight deadlines and independently prioritising multiple tasks. Experience of working in a research or higher education environment would be an advantage but not essential.

You will be able to work both independently and as part of a team, taking initiative and exercising sound judgement in resolving matters that may arise as part of normal daily work. You must enjoy working within a fast paced dynamic environment and be able to bring in excellent time and workload management skills with demonstrated ability to prioritise effectively, manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines and achieve required outcomes.

Both posts are open ended.
