Job Description

The Academic Development Unit (ADU) provides a strategic and operational influence on teaching, learning, assessment and research. The ADU is the central Department for the development and support of academic practice, including research, for staff and undergraduate and postgraduate students.

The ADU has responsibility for:

· Academic Strategy, including Learning &Teaching and Research

· Quality enhancement

· Academic staff development

· Technology enhanced learning

The main purpose of this post is to provide support for research development, including support for the Research Priority Areas, the underpinning Units of Assessment, the aligned Research Centres, externally funded research programmes, the teaching: research interface and postgraduate research. The post holder will be a central point of contact for all research matters, providing advice, guidance and support, and ensure the provision of information and data for the strategic and operational work of the University Research Committee. The post holder will work with the ADU’s other Research Development Support Officer, Academic Project Officer, Academic Development Support Officers and Administrator to ensure a resilient support service, led by the Strategic Academic Project Manager. The post holder will also work closely with the Academic Services administration teams providing a service for Schools, the University Funding Office, and the postgraduate research administration team in academic registry, and all central professional departments.
