Job Description

Do you have a background in electrical or electro-mechanical engineering with a relevant qualification?

Do you have substantial knowledge and industry experience of working on HV or experimental electrical plant on the power or controls side, or mechanical plant including compressed air, water and gas systems?

The UK Atomic Energy Authority have an excellent opportunity for a Power Supplies Maintenance Engineer to join their team within the Power Supplies Operations Unit. The team consists of circa 45 employees and is responsible for the ownership and safe operation of pulsed power convertors in support of JET and MAST-U operations. Comprehensive on-plant training will be provided to enable successful candidates to become fully conversant with the requirements of the role.

Key responsibilities include:

-Provision of electrical/mechanical skills regarding electrical switchgear, power convertors, control and communication systems, mechanical assemblies and pressurised water, gas and air systems
-Undertake fault-finding activities within your area of expertise
-Take responsibility for defining and maintaining sufficient spares and consumables for a range of plant including managing obsolescence
-Preparation of work control systems and supervision of craft personnel where appropriate

Knowledge, skills and experience

Essential
-HNC in an engineering discipline with practical work experience
-Candidates with a lower qualification will be considered where significant, relevant, practical experience can be demonstrated

Desirable
-Experience of working within a high hazard industrial environment

Special requirements:
Regular casual shift working will be required to provide resilience to power supplies operational teams.
