This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team of staff dedicated to teaching across our physical education and sport coaching related disciplines.
Your role will contribute predominantly to the University of Brighton’s BA (Hons) Physical Education with QTS, BA (Hons) Physical Education and BSc (Hons) Sport Coaching degrees. Students on these degrees experience varied practical and theoretical modes of learning which are reflected in creative and innovative methods of teaching and lecture delivery.
Our programmes’ curriculum is focused on the development of students understanding and competence in their chosen discipline, through the synthesis and application of relevant academic, practical and professional perspectives, leading to the ability to apply a detailed understanding of theoretical concepts to vocational settings.
Our philosophy is to work in partnership with students, academics and employers to deliver high quality learning and teaching based on contemporary research findings and practice-based assessment. In addition to which, our lecturers provide pastoral care, using listening and interpersonal skills to appreciate the needs of individual students and their circumstances, and to refer students as appropriate to the specialist services which can provide further help. In order to be successful in this role, you should bring with you:
- A good first degree in a Physical Education, Sport Coaching, or a closely related subject.
- Qualified teacher status.
- The ability to contribute to a suite of degree programs with a particular focus on Physical Education and Sports Coaching.
- An up-to-date, sound knowledge of current developments in Physical Education and Sport Coaching with relevant pedagogic skills.
If you have a PhD or Doctorate and can supervise at this level, you will have opportunities to develop as the university has an active programme for supporting early career researchers.
For informal enquiries please contact Dr Martin Bailey, M.P.Bailey@brighton.ac.uk
You will be based at our Eastbourne campus site, and travel to other university sites will also be required. This role is eligible for applications from job sharers.
It is planned that interviews will take place on the week beginning 12th July.
