You will support our students to develop subject knowledge and teaching skills, sharing both practical expertise and relevant scholarship with students as an education studies specialist. At Senior Lecturer grade you would also be expected to take on coordination and/or leadership roles for our Further Education team and within the School of Education on arrival.

You will have:

  • The ability to demonstrate a passion for teaching and students’ learning and be able to offer a clear rationale for your pedagogy.
  • A good (normally a 1st or 2:1) undergraduate degree,

  • An equivalent level of professional experience or evidence of a commitment to obtaining a relevant higher degree/professional qualification.

You will, depending on your individual profile, contribute to a variety of undergraduate, postgraduate and work-related programmes. Programmes are delivered across the full calendar year and can involve some work on evenings and Saturdays. You will be expected to travel to partner schools and settings supporting students’ professional learning in collaboration with a range of professionals from these placements.

Situated in excellent facilities at our Falmer site, just five miles from Brighton’s stunning sea front and vibrant city centre, the School of Education is one of the largest providers of education and training for student teachers, teachers and other professionals in the higher education sector. Rated good by Ofsted for further education in our latest inspection (November 2018) and outstanding for our early years, primary and secondary provision, we are ranked in the top 15 for education courses in the UK in The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2021. The School of Education has consistently gained very strong feedback from our student body with 88% overall satisfaction in the 2019 National Student Survey results. We have been voted School of the Year by Brighton Students’ Union two years in a row.

With our commitment to the highest expectations and standards in education and research we enjoy a regional, national and international reputation for the quality of our provision. Promoting creativity and innovation and embracing the principles of equality and inclusion we are consistently successful in meeting new market demands and government initiatives at both a local and national level. Programmes with the school focus predominantly on education, learning and development.

Due to the nature of this post a DBS check will be required for the successful candidate.
