Job Description

The School of Arts at the University of Gloucestershire, is seeking to appoint an inspirational Lecturer in Interior Design to support the subject area’s distinctive and contemporary curriculum. We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced individual with a future-focused commitment and ambition for the subject area. A student-centred teaching commitment to supporting diverse cohorts of learners is a key dimension of the role as is a willingness to support the expansion of the subject area both in terms of postgraduate pathways and a willingness to assist with the further internationalisation of the subject offer. Languages in addition to English, may also be an advantage for this role.

Applicants may also demonstrate an interest in flexible and blended approaches to delivering the Interior Design subject with consideration for both full-time and part-time learning engagement.

In addition to key interior design subject knowledge, processes and practices, you should expect to have demonstrable attainment in and around surface pattern, textiles, design aesthetics and placement. Confidence in using the full range of print and design processes (both analogue and digital) is expected for this post. The School of Arts is committed to supporting research and scholarship among its teaching community; it would be an advantage to have relevant industry and academic experience of publication and/or broader subject impact – analogue, digital and/or or personal, professional practice. Possession of a higher degree would be an advantage for this post.

The University of Gloucestershire has excellent links with industry and in particular, regional businesses and local authorities. You will be expected to further develop effective liaison with both UK and international stakeholders to benefit the students, the subject area, the School of Arts and the wider University.

Demonstrable skills in collaborative working, course organisation, innovative teaching and curriculum enhancement are essential for this post.

The post may also be available on a job share basis depending on the circumstances and commitments of eligible applicants.
