Job Description

We have a fantastic new permanent opportunity for you to join us as our Inspector of Ancient Monument based in Cambridge. You will join a dynamic and versatile regional team where you will have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of exciting, unusual and interesting casework.. We are looking for an individual who brings a creative approach and enthusiasm to the role, whilst looking to build positively on an existing foundation of experience. Through using this and applying our ethos of Constructive Conservation you will manage change to some of the most significant archaeology across this diverse region.

As our new Inspector of Ancient Monuments, you will deliver Historic England`s advice in response to pre-application and formal consultations across the diverse and fascinating North West Region, including Hadrian`s Wall, a World Heritage Site, our extensive industrial heritage and assets ranging from Cheshire moats to Cumbrian stone circles. At its heart this post involves advising on scheduled monument consent applications, planning applications and management advice in relation to places of archaeological interest.

To be successful in this role, you will be used to taking on responsibility for an extensive and varied case load and working in close consultation with colleagues of various professionalisms to achieve the overall objectives of the organisation.
