Historic England have a fantastic new opportunity for an Infrastructure Engineer to join us and develop their skills within a newly formed team.

If you are seeking an opportunity to have an instrumental role in shaping and developing mission critical infrastructure services for Historic England and English Heritage as we transition to new cloud technologies and adoption of the modern digital workplace, then this is the ideal opportunity for you.

The location of this role is Swindon, but we will consider hybrid working where you will be based in the office and home.

What you will be doing:

As a valuable team member, you will be working alongside a team of subject matter experts they will deliver services to two vibrant and unique businesses in the heritage sector.

You will be responsible for dealing with a wide variety of applications, business services and data they will play a vital role in enabling our organisations to leverage the most out of our recent IT investments. This includes an exciting project portfolio, the development of our back office case and resource management systems and helping us to leverage the power of our mobility solutions empowering our field based operations with apps and services that provide on-the-spot real time data insight and planning tools as they visit and care for the nations most important historic places.

Who we are looking for:

  • Experience of managing and delivering enterprise services to SLA`s
  • Practical working experience of Microsoft cloud technologies, including Azure and Microsoft 365 services
  • Operational administrative and support experience managing on prem data centres and cloud deployments of Windows Server, Hyper-V, DNS/DHCP, Active Directory, Group Policy & use of Powershell
  • Understanding of ITIL best practice framework
  • A deep knowledge of IT technologies and issues
  • Able to work with people in a variety of roles, different levels and with third party contract staff
  • Takes ownership of issues and be prepared to see them through to resolution with minimum disruption to the customer
