Job Description

The Head of Communications and PR is an exciting role, offering the opportunity to take an influential leadership position with a high level of strategic impact.

The University has high ambitions for the future, and despite the challenges of COVID, continues to attract increasing numbers of students, continues to develop its portfolio of academic courses, and continues to develop the excellent resources available to our students. It also plays a major role in the economic, educational and cultural success of Gloucestershire and the south west region.

In this role, you will play a pivotal part in supporting the University’s growth and development whilst ensuring the careful management of our public relations, where there are continuously interesting developments given the range of activities that the University’s staff are involved in as part of our academic research and engagement with business.

You will be an experienced communications leader, with a track record of providing strategic direction for communications and public relations, involving a range of stakeholders, both internal and external, as well as using a variety of communication platforms. You will be able to evidence your success in maintaining positive public relations. It goes without saying that your communication skills will be outstanding, as will be your networking and relationship building ability. Experience of working closely with an Executive team would be beneficial. You will have a small team of communications staff, and therefore experience of leading a team to deliver a range of projects is required.
