Our Student Support Services function makes an important contribution to the NTU student experience, providing a range of specialist and professional services for students and operating in an integrated, multidisciplinary student services context across three University sites.
We are seeing to appoint a Disability Officer to work as a part of the Disability Support Team within Student support services.
Educated to degree level, the successful candidate will have a strong understanding of current practice of the provision of support services for students in higher education. You will have significant experience of providing support to students with a range of physical, sensory and long-term health conditions, making recommendations for reasonable adjustments and working in partnership with other professionals to find support solutions to ensure that high quality support is delivered. This role will contribute to the development of University strategies to promote understanding and awareness of barriers to learning.
The role will provide support to the academic school in developing and delivering proactive strategies for supporting students. You will manage a caseload of students, provide early intervention to students experiencing a range of personal and practical difficulties and experiences that may impact on their academic progression. In addition, you will have strong communication, organisation and prioritisation skills.
