Job Description

The Clinical Trials Research Unit (CTRU) requires a Data Specialist to work in collaboration with senior Data Managers and Statisticians on the data management and reporting of high quality randomised controlled trials (RCTs) and other studies.
Ethics, regulatory and funding bodies require clinical trials to be run in accordance with robust standards for which there are specialised, detailed requirements for data management.

The Data Specialist will be expected to clean, link and report on datasets in accordance with the appropriate guidance and regulatory standards. Additionally they will be expected to carry out general data management tasks for CTRU studies; support the computer system validation process and contribute to development of data management standard operating procedures (SOPs) and processes especially in relation to those involving working with large datasets.

The role requires expertise in programming reports; expertise in data management; a detailed understanding of how databases are designed and used in clinical trials; effective management and communications skills; the ability to successfully
balance competing priorities and be able to take forward initiatives and developments to successful completion. A detailed knowledge of GCP and other regulations and their impact on data management is beneficial.
