The University of Gloucestershire is looking to appoint an Academic Subject Leader for the Accounting and Financial Management subject area, which is part of the Business School. As part of this role, the successful candidate will provide effective leadership and operational management across the full range of teaching, research and commercial activities of staff in Accounting and Finance, with specific responsibility for our undergraduate and postgraduate academic provision. You will work closely with other key members of the School to drive delivery and ensure achievement of School and University objectives. In addition, you will take a lead in the school for international partnership development, ensuring the quality of our existing collaborative provision.
You will manage the resources of the subject group, as well as providing academic leadership and direction. You will have a critical function in the areas of quality assurance, curriculum development and review, student recruitment and retention, staff management, ensuring a high-quality student experience.
In addition, many courses within the Business School are taught in partnership with Industry and local and/or international educational partners. As lead for international development, you will be expected to effectively manage and develop these relationships. There will be an expectation that you will manage provision across multiple locations.
In conjunction with Head of School, you will contribute to the development of a strategy and implement a plan of action in relation to the academic leadership for the Accounting and Finance programmes. You will ensure its alignment with university and school key performance indicators and objectives, and the professional standards of the relevant professional bodies including ACCA and ICAEW.
The Business School boasts a £20m purpose-built building, which is also home to the Growth Hub and to the Department of Business Engagement (University in Business). This cohabitation with the business community gives our staff and students the opportunity to interact seamlessly, and on a regular basis, working on real life projects that help foster the growth of our students, businesses and the whole region’s economy. Our courses cover areas from business management, accounting, finance, law, marketing and hospitality and tourism management. The School has a growing research profile with an impressive track record in winning European research bids. The School is on track to make a strong submission to the next Research Excellence Framework
