About Frontline

Looking for an opportunity to lead change? Find out how you can support our mission to transform the lives of vulnerable children and families.

At least half a million children in England don’t have a safe or stable home. These children and their families face some of the worst life chances. Almost a third of the homeless population have been through the care system at some point in their lives. Only one in five children in need achieve a C or above in English and Mathematics at GCSE , compared to 60% of all children.

How can we improve these statistics , support the most vulnerable children in society and change the direction of their lives? Social work is a leadership profession in which you must inspire , persuade and bring out the best in diverse groups of people. That’s why Frontline’s two-year Leadership Development programme recruits and trains resilient , change-seeking individuals , equipping them with the strength and skills needed for great social work practice.

We prioritise hands-on experience through intensive practical and academic training in a local authority for children’s services. Following a five-week residential training programme , you’ll work directly with children and families , as well as professionals such as the police , courts and schools. By the end of Year 1 , you will have undertaken a minimum of 200 days of practical work and 46 taught days of study. At the end of this year , if you have successfully completed your assessments , following confirmation by the examination board that you have passed , you will then be eligible to apply to register with Social Work England and become a qualified social worker. In Year 2 , you will complete an Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE) as a newly qualified social worker. Your local authority will assess and support you throughout this year , and you will receive continued leadership development and support from Frontline whilst you complete your Master’s in Advanced Relationship Based Social Work Practice with Children and Families , which will consolidate your knowledge and understanding of the Frontline practice models.

Not only will you help transform the lives of vulnerable children and families , you’ll transform your own. By developing a range of invaluable skills including relationship-building , conflict resolution and leadership , the Frontline programme will strengthen your resilience and find hidden qualities you didn’t even know you had.

Changing lives isn’t easy. But if you’re one of the few who dare to change; who want one of Britain’s most challenging jobs , then Frontline is for you.
